We
arrived before Jus & Cat and somewhat selfishly decided to go and
bag the top without them. It was a short stroll southwards on a path running
parallel to the road through the woods opposite the parking area to the
trig point. In front of the trig there was a tiny bit of bare rock that
could just about be used for the mildest of scrambles if you were desperate.
Needless to say Jim and I utilised it to the full, despite the relatively
easy path aorund the side of it!
Jus and Cat called a minute or so later to say they’d arrived and
we guided them towards us over the ‘phone. They didn’t look
very impressed at this woodland trig with its lack of views, and seemed
quite pleased when we told them that they’d managed to miss seven
tops of similar stature. Returning to the car park (which has much better
views than the trig) we agreed to defer lunch until our next unitary top
(Leeds).
Verdict:
Pleasant enough, but for committed baggers only. Nice views from the “picnic
site”.
